New Every Morning

Every day brings new challenges to our faith. We cannot live today off of yesterday’s mercy. God gives us new strengths and new opportunities daily. God is so faithful to us that he gives us unused mercies every morning. Each day, we should embrace the new mercies God has given us.

The fact that we live to see a new day is an opportunity to praise God. When we arise, we can command our day to be all that God has created it to be. The older saints used to sing a song “Just another day that the Lord has kept me. He has kept me from all evil with my mind stayed on Him”. Faith is predictable. If we keep our mind on Jesus every day, we can predict the outcome: WE WIN. If we failed to set our faith in proper position yesterday, God gives us a new day to do new things. The bible declares in Isaiah 43:19 “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” Do not let yesterday’s mistakes hinders today’s growth. The same God that gave us new grace and mercy yesterday is the same God who will do it again today. Make every day count. Be not dismayed, discouraged or distressed, for God has a plan for our life today. And when tomorrow comes, He is committed to giving us a fresh start again.

Today, I encourage every person to embrace the new mercies of God. Forgot about what did not work yesterday. Praise God for the people walked out of our life yesterday. Thank God that yesterday is gone and today is going well.

Scripture- Lamentations 3:22-24 “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.”

Prayer: Lord, thank you for new mercies we receive every day. We realize your faithfulness towards us to not recycle the days of your mercy but to give us a new start daily. Father God, help us to live a life today that will promote and please your kingdom. We acknowledge that your grace is sufficient for us. We bless your Name. Amen

Show Me The Way Lord

There have been times in our lives when we have tried to do everything for our self. We enjoy the feeling of being independent. Independence makes us feel so important. No matter how we are given instructions and directions, we want to create our own manual in life. I remember my mother saying she tried to teach us things to prevent us from making the same mistakes she made. Unfortunately, we do not like to receive the teaching of those who have experienced life. We are fixated on the notion that personal experience is the greatest teacher. But when we fall, we look for the people with wisdom to redirect our path. Same is true with God. God tells us we are at the wrong door, we are in the wrong line, we are in the wrong city or state, but we tell God in our actions, that we know what is best for us. We tell God we need to try things our way first, and then expect God to conform to our plans.

If we would take a moment before starting our journey to get instructions and ask, “Show me the way Lord”. The road would not be long and chaotic. When and where the Lord leads, he guides and provides. He has an eye to see beyond headlights, street lights or flash lights. We must realize a journey without God’s direction is a trip. There is destruction, detours and death waiting on us as we turn the corner. On the other hand, a journey with the Lord has grace, mercy and life. We need the Lord to show us the way if we want to arrive safely and successfully to the place He has purposed for us.

We do not have to create our own path to success when others have already paved the way. The Lord desires to lead us into all truth. He desires to direct our path. He desires to see us blessed, whole and free. God put people in different stages of life to assist us to our destination; therefore He will sometimes use the people around us to show us the way. The younger generation relies on the older generation for wisdom and the older generation will rely on the younger generation to assist them with life changes. The person who learns the most is the person who has learned to be taught. Never be such an independent thinker that you reject the knowledge of God or others.

Scripture-Psalm 86:11 “Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.”

Prayer: Lord, thank you for teaching us your way and guiding us along the way. We know not what to do, where to go nor what to say. We are dependent upon you to help us make wise decisions. Let us not fall into temptation. Let us not grow weary. Help us to follow your instructions that we can live the abundant life ordained by you Lord, In Jesus Name. Amen

The Value of a Footstool

A footstool has two important functions. One function of a footstool is it can be used as a step ladder to reach unreachable places. Another function of a footstool is it can be used for a person to prop their feet while sitting or resting. I recall a brown leather footstool my grandparents had when I was younger. The footstool was one of my favorite seats when I was at my grandparents. My grandfather used it to prop his feet when he came home from work. I was height challenged so I also used it to reach the high places, like the bread box on top of the refrigerator.

In the bible, the Lord told David to sit on His right hand until He makes his enemies his footstool. God will make our enemies our footstool too. Our enemies will not be able to harm us; they are designed to help us. There are a few ways the enemy can be of use to us: 1) we can prop our feet and relax while God work on our behalf, 2) we can sit and rest in the presence of God, and 3) we can stand strong and stable to reach to higher heights and deeper depths in God. Psalms 23:5 “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.” This assures us God has a plan to let our enemies know they cannot stop what He has purposed.

In the presence of the enemy, God will change any situation for the better. God will use the very weapon the devil launched to attack us with to bless and promote us. We often quote Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.” We need the weapons formed to remind us who we are in Christ. We must decree that God gets the glory out of every weapon because He has worked it out for our good. Next time the enemy attacks, rejoice in the Lord, sit still, stand on the promise of God’s word and rest assure that the weapon will not prosper.

Today, I challenge every person reading this post to embrace the attack of the enemy. It is working for our good and God’s glory. Philippians 1:28 declares “And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.” We know things will happen in life, but do not be alarmed by it. Everyday someone becomes sick, people lose jobs, cars, houses, lives, and friends. A lose of things is not the end of the world, but the beginning of a new life. Sometimes we have to lose things in order to find God. No matter what the situation is, God is still in control. Let God handle your enemy.

Scripture: Psalms 110:1 “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.”

Prayer: Father God, help us to trust you. We understand weapons will be formed, but we thank you that they will not prosper. Thank you Lord for our enemies as we know they come to increase our faith in you. We give you praise in advance for making our enemies our footstool, in Jesus Name. Amen.

I remember my daughter when she was very young & how she would ask before going to bed, for us to leave the light on & we would do it despite the electric bill. All she wanted was to not be afraid to get out of the bed when it was time for her to go to the rest room because if it was dark, she could not see her way & the fear of darkness would have made her stay in the bed, so Please Leave The Light On. As adults, we can learn from kids because even at our age, we still require that somebody Leave The Light On. .

The Light that my daughter wanted to be left on indicates the light inside of us that helps others see their way in this dark world through good works. The electric bill indicates excuses & circumstances, etc. that encourages us to not leave the light on for even our own children, our fellow brothers & sister, or mankind in general. Her going to the restroom indicates us getting up and moving forward when we need to. Someone Please Leave The Light On.

A lot of people today are afraid to move because even in the daylight it seems dark & they are not going to risk getting lost, so it seems better to just stay in poverty, to continue the violence, to continue the drugs, the back stabbing, the hating, the gossiping, etc. Someone Please Leave The Light On.”

I love my wife, so I need more husbands to Please leave The Light On so that I can see how to love her better & treat her like the Queen that she is. I love my kids, so I need more Fathers to Please Leave The Light On, so that I will know how to spend time with them, love them, train them, & hold them accountable. I love serving Christ, so I need Pastors & Elders to Please Leave The Light On, so that I can see the love, see the joy, see the peace, see the support, etc. instead of only hearing about it through sermons & prayers. I love obeying the laws of the land, so I need Politicians to Please Leave The Light On, so that the decisions that we make through your leadership will not be misleading & detrimental to the future of any particular race or our children as a whole. I can go on and on but the message is clear.

The Legacy Light of David Dukes, Martin Luther King & many more is still shining bright in the lives of many, helping them see the way, so I encourage all of us to Leave our light on because as you read this, there is someone in darkness waiting on someone to flip the switch. We never stop learning, so I look forward to others leaving their light on for me & I will do the same. Please Leave The Light On!!!!

Recently, while taking my afternoon walk, I encountered two dogs that barked fiercely and ran towards me. This route was my normal path. I always walk with a stick in my hand. On several occasions, I have been asked by other walkers, including children, my purpose for walking with a stick. I explained that the stick was for protection. I carried the same weapon for months, but I never tested it until this particular day when I encountered the dogs. I drew my weapon hit the pavement with the stick to deter the dogs, and my weapon broke. Blessedly, the owner heard the dogs barking then ran towards me and she called them back to the yard. The dogs were small but I was still afraid of them. A few feet up the road, I was approached by another dog. With my broken weapon, I knew I couldn’t panic. All I had was the prayer of faith. The dog ran towards me, got close and took off running as if I had swung at it.

At that moment, I heard God say, “The weapon’s value can not be determined if it had not been tested.” So many people carry the weapon (the bible) but have never taken the time to test the validity of it until an emergency. It is during an emergency, people attempt to test the weapon. The validity of the weapon will not be as effective if used during emergency situations only. The weapon has to be tested regularly to ensure it measures up to its intended purpose. The Word of God is our weapon for daily living. If tested regularly and applied appropriately, when crisis situations occur, the weapon will work effectively. To carry the weapon and never test it is useless to the believer. It is almost impossible to get the full benefits of the weapon if never tested.

Today, every believer is challenged to test the validity of the weapon. In the words of my late grandfather, “tried and proved.”

Scripture- II Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;”

Prayer: Lord, thank you for providing the weapon to protect us. We know that your word has already been proven to be effective. Help us to use our weapon regularly so we will fully trust you when our faith is tested. Keep us in perfect peace with our mind stayed on thee. In Jesus Name. Amen
